Hi, I'm Diane!

Hmmm... You're here because...

... you want to make the most of your time at school and have the biggest impact on your students! You want to teach each of your students how to read... how to write... and how to be a great human!

Diane's Elementary Desktop, LLC was created to provide elementary teachers and students with engaging reading, writing, and social-emotional learning resources that can be implemented in any classroom. From phonics to comprehension activities, graphic organizers to writing prompts, the activities support curriculum and provide extra practice. SEL activities help students learn about themselves, others, and responsible decision-making. I believe that combining ELA and SEL can make all the difference in the world with instruction, student learning, and helping our students learn how to be great humans!

Combining ELA and SEL is my passion!

Meet Diane

I'm Diane! Between school and home, I know what it's like. I know how incredibly busy teacher-life is and how hard it can be to do it all! I always knew I wanted to work with kids. My Bachelor's Degree is in Psychology with an emphasis on child development. Then life happened. I met my Air Force husband, we moved away from our home in Wisconsin, and had kids. I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom when my kids were little. Eight years later I went back to school and got my Master's In Elementary Education and then started teaching. I became fascinated with how kids learn to read, so early on in my career I became certified as a Reading Specialist. I've taught kindergarten, first, and third grade and also worked as a Reading Specialist in two different schools. It continues to be an interesting, challenging, and sometimes overwhelming life that I wouldn't trade for anything!

My amazing humans...

Over the past 20+ years, I've come to realize that teaching is so much more than teaching kids how to read and write. We're also supporting our student's social and emotional health every day. I know this is nothing new to you! Teachers are planners, assessors, coaches, mediators, and counselors (just to name a few)! Each day we do all of these things and more as we help our students learn how to read and write AND how to self-monitor, get along with others, and have a positive impact in their classroom, school, and community!

My passion for helping kids learn how to read and write AND how to live and love has led me to want to support both teachers and students in combining ELA and SEL. I am constantly researching and trying to learn more about combining academics with social-emotional learning. I know you want to do it ALL and I know how busy you are. I've learned strategies, tips, and tricks to help teachers feel better about trying to do it all. To wholeheartedly support your students and be able to enjoy your time away from school doing all the things you love! I want to share what I'm learning with you!

I WANT TO MAKE A BIGGER IMPACT AND I KNOW YOU DO, TOO!
